There was a DJ, foam fingers, dancing, sweat bands and lots of cheering. Friday morning’s United Way of Bucks County Pep Rally 2013 was named rightfully so.

The gathering, held in a large ballroom at Ann’s Choice in Warminster, drew over 350 people. Pep Rally 2013 was not the typical annual meeting held by the non-profit.

United Way of Bucks County, which is based on Hood Boulevard in Falls Township, had seen revenues dip by 9 percent in the final years of the last decade. By 2012, that number increase by 23 percent in 2012,  CEO Jamie Haddon told the crowd. His announcement was met with cheers.

“We’re like the Rocky Balboa of Bucks County,” Haddon said. He became CEO of the struggling non-profit in December 2011.

Haddon recognized the many business and individuals that support the United Way of Bucks County.

Director of Community Impact Tim Philpot told attendees, which included a group of Twitter users “live-tweeting” the breakfast-time event, that the local United Way was looking to package 64,000 meals for hungry kids during an August event at Ann’s Choice. At a similar event, over 20,000 meals were packed and distributed.

LevittownNow.com editor Tom Sofield was among a group of “multipliers” honored by the organization. LevittownNow.com works closely with the United Way of Bucks County and the programs it supports in Lower Bucks County.
