Sleepy Driver Crashes Into House, Cops Say


A driver feel asleep at the wheel and struck a house in the Levittown section of Middletown Township Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The driver, a 19-year-old Levittown man, was on his way home from work when he feel asleep behind the wheel of a white Buick as he went downhill on Hardy Road, Officer Michael Stum said. When the young man awoke, he was surrounded by wreckage inside a home in the 40 block of Highland Park Road, the accident investigator told LevittownNow.com.

No one was injured in the crash, Stum said. He added that a dog inside the home was fine.

Stum said the house suffered “extensive” damage on the inside. Township building inspectors were called to the scene.

Neighbors said the home was recently renovated.

Emergency crews were dispatched for the crash moments before 4 p.m.
