EXCLUSIVE: Safe Side Walks for New Falls Road Coalition Gets Date for 5K Run / Walk-a-thon Event


Sidewalks for New Falls Road claimed another victory Friday when Bucks County Technical School, and theย organizersย for Bristol Township’s Spring Fling agreed to host aย 5K run/ walk-a-thon on the school’s field, Bristol Township Councilman Craig Bowen confirmed to LevittownNow.com.

On Thursday Bowen met with Kevin Ody, workforce development and community coordinator for the tech school, and came to an agreement on a date to hold the 5k walk-a-thon/run fundraiser.

“It’ll take place at the Bucks County Technical High School ย Saturday, May 11, and it’ll be part of this year’s Spring Fling, but we still have some details that need hammering out,” ย said Bowen.

Driving force and founder of the Sidewalks Coalition, Sharon Rearick, said she wasย ecstaticย when she heard the news.

“We’ve worked hard to make this happen, and with Craig’s (Bowen) help. and so many others in the community we’re getting there.” She said.

Funds raised from the 5k run /walk-a-thon will go towards the installation of a walkways along New Falls Rd. ย Although a specific cost ย for the work to be done on the road that runs through Bristol and Middletown townships has yet to beย officiallyย determined, Rearick is fully committed to raise the funds for the project.”

Earlier this month Bristol and Middletown Townships sent out letters to residents informing them PennDOT Workers would be on “…New Falls Rd ..performing field surveys to obtain accurate information on theย existingย right of way along properties …of ย the roadway.”

“Look, we’ve ย been on the phones constantly trying to come up with ideas of raising money for this. We know the townships don’t have the it, so we’re out there getting it and making it happen,” said Rearick.

The Safe Sidewalks Coalition ย has a fundraiser set for April 13 ย at ย The Comedy Works at Georgine’s in Bristol .
