Major traffic pattern changes will occur within the next two weeks (3/18 – 3/29) from Levittown Parkway to Fallsington-Tullytown Road:
- Southbound SR 13 traffic will be reduced to one lane and the contractor will be installing a temporary concrete traffic barrier along the centerline of southbound SR 13
- Beginning on or around March 25th, northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane and will be crossed-over to travel on the opposite lane of southbound SR 13 just north of the Levittown Parkway.
- The existing northbound SR 13 roadway will then be closed to traffic so that the contractor can install a new pedestrian tunnel under the roadway that will extend the existing towpath under SR 13. The contractor will also replace the existing culvert that carries water from the canal under SR 13. This work is expected to take approximately 2 months.
- The ramp from southbound SR 13 to Fallsington Ave. will also be closed during this operation. A detour will be posted that directs motorists to continue south on SR 13 to the Haines Road jug-handle where they will be able to turn around and take northbound SR 13 back to Fallsington Ave.
During the next two weeks the contractor will also be implementing daily lane closures throughout the project to perform the following operations:
- Between Green Lane and the Levittown Parkway the contractor will be installing drainage facilities and temporarily paving the existing medians and shoulders to facilitate upcoming Stage 1 traffic patterns.
- Between Bristol Commerce Park Driveway and Bath Road the contractor will be temporarily paving the existing medians and shoulders to facilitate upcoming Stage 1 traffic patterns and installing Erosion and Sedimentation Controls related to the replacement of the Route 13 Bridge over Otter Creek.
- At Beaver Dam Road the contractor will be temporarily paving the existing medians and shoulders to facilitate upcoming Stage 1 traffic patterns.
- Temporary Traffic Signals for Stage 1 are being installed at intersections throughout the project.
- Various utility companies, including Aqua of Pennsylvania, PECO and Verizon will be relocating their facilities throughout the corridor.
The major traffic switch to the long term Stage 1 pattern north of Green Lane is not anticipated within the next two weeks, but should be implemented very early in April.
