Harry S. Truman High School life skills teacher Tom Delaney has been named 2012-2013 Bucks County Teacher of the Year by Bucks First Federal Credit Union and the Bucks County Intermediate Unit.

Delaney coaches and helps organize the Special Olympics track team, holds dances for children, serves as a camp counselor for a life skills camp, volunteers as a coach for the Bucks

County Challenger football team and serves on the board of the directors for the Bucks County Super Kids Soap Box Derby.
“In my twenty six year tenure in the Bristol Township School District I can think of no teacher who goes so far above and beyond for his students. Tom stays involved with his special needs students after school, weekends, and during the holidays and summers. Tom Delaney works tirelessly in his efforts to give his students the best experiences that he can in and out of school,” Harry S. Truman High School Principal James Moore said in a statement.
Franklin D. Roosevelt Middle School science teacher Meredith Mueller was runner up in the contest, the school district said a release.

Teachers were not the only ones honored.
Truman senior Jennifer Benoit was awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the credit union. She plans to attend Delaware Valley College in Doylestown in the fall.
