Just before 11 a.m. on Rolling Lane in Bristol Township’s Levittown section, the Levittown Fire Company No. 2, Edgely Fire Company, and Bristol Township Fire Rescue responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters were confronted with a front-load Waste Management trash truck that was fueled by propane on fire. The fire had nearly fully engulfed the vehicle, intensifying the danger posed to both nearby structures and emergency personnel, according to a social media post from the Levittown Fire Company No. 2.

The situation became even more hazardous as multiple explosions of propane erupted, officials said.

Firefighters sprang into action and began pouring water, including from a squirt truck, to combat the flames, officials said.

After an hour-long fight, the flames were finally brought under control.

No injuries were reported.

The fire company said the trash truck was more than halfway filled and was towed to a Waste Management facility to be unloaded.
