A Neshaminy School District employee who works at Pearl Buck Elementary School in Middletown Township’s Levittown section tested positive for COVID-19, according to a letter sent to parents Monday.
The letter from Principal Brian Kern said the staff member was asymptomatic while in the school last week. The staff member began feeling ill on Sunday evening and received confirmation of their illness on Monday.

The district has sent a list of all potential close contacts to the Bucks County Department of Health, which has said the risk of spread was “extremely low to others based on distance, masks, and duration,” Kern wrote.
The principal said the staff member had contact with students on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Students were in the building last week for orientation, but classes are being held virtually to start the school year.

The county health department has said Bucks County presently has a low COVID-19 hospitalization rate after a high number of hospitalization and deaths in the spring. Dr. David Damsker, the county health director, has said he feels students will be safe in schools if masks are worn, physical distancing is in place, and other safety measures are followed.
