Police Chase Emu Through Falls, Morrisville

Police chased an emu after it escaped on Saturday.

Falls Township and Morrisville Borough officers spent time Saturday afternoon following the large bird that escaped from Snipes Farm and Education Center, Morrisville police Chief George McClay said.

“I saw ’emu’ on my call log and emailed the guys to ask what ’emu’ stood for,” he said chuckling.

The emu was captured by officers and returned to its home, the chief said.

Video filmed by Jon Lambeck‎ appeared to show the emu entering a highway. Readers also reported seeing the bird on Yardley-Morrisville Road before its capture.

McClay said Saturday’s incident was a strange one. He recalled once chasing a runaway llama down Broad Street when he worked for the Philadelphia Police Department.
