Could one of the bodies that was found in Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River on Friday belong to a 19-year-old Croydon man who plunged into the waterway after fleeing police early last month? That’s a question authorities are trying to answer, according to various media reports.
The first body – reported to be that of a man in his 20s or 30s – was pulled from the area near 30th Street Station around noon, a story on 6abc.com said. A torso of another person was found later in the day, Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Robert Moran posted on Twitter.

Philadelphia police were not available for comment late Friday, but here’s what they told Philly.com when asked about the missing Croydon man:
“It would be foolish to think it couldn’t be that gentleman but we can’t confirm anything for sure.”

The Croydon man, whose name was not released by authorities, ran from Amtrak officials at 30th Street Station Wednesday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. after they found his bag, which contained drugs and a gun, according to 6abc.com.
The man ran off and was chased by authorities. Officials from Amtrak and Philadelphia police confirmed the man jumped off the Market Street Bridge into the Schuylkill River and has not been seen since.
