Sgt. Pete Faight said the striking vehicle was described by an eyewitness as dark-colored. A mirror in the street was believed to left behind by the vehicle.

The victim was with a friend, who was across the street at a gas station mini-mart, when the crash happened, police said.

Police, fire and EMS crews responded after being called to the scene.

The victim’s boot sat near the mirror in the northbound lane of Route 13 as crash investigators milled about the scene at 3:50 a.m.

The crash happened just yards from where Joseph Acevedo, 25, of Bristol, was struck and killed by a car in January 2013. In that case, the driver stopped and called police.
