Bucks County Community College staff and elected officials gathered last Friday in Bristol Township for a groundbreaking ceremony to launch construction on a new HVAC training lab.

Joined by recent graduates of the college’s Building and Construction Trades Pre-Apprenticeship program, officials broke ground outside the Center for Advanced Technologies at the Gene and Marlene Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks.
The specialized learning space will teach students how to install, operate, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments designed to simulate actual job conditions.
The 12-week HVAC course addresses an in-demand field through a combination of classroom theory and practical, hands-on skills development.

Coursework also incorporates energy efficiency training from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Training and Assessment Center, officials said.
According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median national pay in the HVAC industry is $61,010 per year and it is expected to grow its workforce by 11 percent by 2035.

The Center for Advanced Technologies, which opened in 2023, provides workforce training for healthcare, industrial, and manufacturing fields, including dental assistant, construction pre-apprenticeship, locomotive engineer, and metalwork programs.
