The crash took place Sunday at 6:52 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of I-295 between the overpasses for Woodbourne Road and Maple Avenue (Route 213) in Middletown Township.

A 26-year-old man was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion in the left lane when the vehicle veered off the roadway and onto the grass median, per a state police press release.

The car traveled approximately 600 feet along the median before turning sideways and striking a guide rail, state police said.

The damaged Saturn came to a rest on its roof within the median, state police said.
