The possibility of severe weather and a dangerous heat wave has forced Neshaminy School District officials to postpone the high school graduation.

The ceremony at the campus in Middletown Township was set for Wednesday evening.
The Neshaminy High School commencement has now been rescheduled for Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m., school administrators announced Wednesday.
District officials said the decision was made after an “extensive consultation” of the weather forecast and discussions with an AccuWeather meteorologist, school administrators, and the Middletown Township Police Department.

Humid and hot weather has settled over the area, and forecasters are also warning of potential severe thunderstorms and lightning this week.
In the event of bad weather with thunderstorms, a full evacuation of the high school stadium would be triggered, officials said.

“This decision was not made lightly,” district officials said. “Our primary goal has always been to provide our graduates and their families with the memorable outdoor graduation experience they have anticipated and deserve.”
Administrators said moving the ceremony to Saturday morning maximizes the chances of keeping the event outdoors while protecting the health and safety of graduates, guests, and staff from dangerous heat and storms.
School officials said the last-minute scheduling shift would require families to adjust their plans and thanked the community for its flexibility.

Additional details regarding the logistics for Saturday’s rescheduled ceremony will be shared by the district as soon as possible, officials said.
“We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 together on Saturday and thank you for your continued support of our graduates,” the district’s statement said.
