The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is warning residents of a text message scam involving the court.

The scam text messages spoof or mimic the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Officials said the messages allege the First Chief Justice Debra Todd is advising the receiver of an incomplete court filing and requesting payment via PayPal to correct the filing.
The public is reminded that none of the Pennsylvania courts will place calls or send text messages soliciting payment by credit card, gift card or any other means of electronic funds transfer for any reason.
Officials advise not providing any sensitive information or forms of payment if you receive a text message from a number or someone claiming to be involved with or calling from the Supreme Court requesting payment.

If you receive a scam text, you should contact state or local police as well as the attorney general’s Bureau of Consumer Protection at 800-441-2555 or scams@attorneygeneral.gov.
