The budget airline will add service from Trenton-Mercer Airport in Ewing, New Jersey, to Orlando-Sanford International Airport starting Oct. 2.

At Trenton-Mercer Airport, which is currently expanding its passenger facility, Allegiant became the second commercial carrier alongside Frontier Airlines in recent months.

The new Philadelphia International Airport route will fly to St. Pete-Clearwater, Florida. It will start Oct. 2.

The expansion of service follows Allegiant’s entry into Philadelphia International and Trenton-Mercer airports last year.

“When we grow our route map, we ensure affordable options remain available for travelers across America,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s chief commercial officer.

The route announcement comes as the airline’s parent corporation, Allegiant Travel Company, announced it has finalized its acquisition of Sun Country Airlines Holdings Inc.

The transaction closed this month after shareholder approval from both companies and regulatory approvals.

Company officials stated the merger is intended to boost Allegiant’s scale, expand its network, and strengthen its position as a top U.S. leisure airline.

The company said the combined airline features a fleet of 195 aircraft serving nearly 175 cities.

For the immediate future, both airlines will operate as separate carriers and maintain their individual branding.

According to the company, customers should continue to book travel through existing channels. Current reservations, flight schedules, and travel plans remain unchanged, and passengers will still use the respective airline they booked with to check in, manage reservations, and contact customer service.

Loyalty programs, including Allegiant Allways Rewards and Sun Country Rewards, will also remain separate for the near term, with members retaining their current points, benefits, and account status. Allegiant indicated it plans to introduce combined network benefits for customers over time.
