Randy Hawkins, 18, was arrested last month and charged with conspiracy to receive stolen property, conspiracy to flee or attempt to elude police, conspiracy to possess an instrument of crime, reckless driving, and related offenses.

According to Falls Township police, county dispatchers issued an alert at approximately 5:55 p.m on Tuesday, March 17. Dispatchers relayed that a white Kia Soul reported stolen out of Trenton was heading their way.

The vehicle, which was reported to be occupied by three to four masked individuals, was spotted traveling southbound on Route 1, police said.

Falls Township officers initiated a pursuit that ended at the intersection of West Trenton Avenue and Plaza Boulevard with a crash, police said.

The Kia struck several vehicles that were stopped at a red light, police said.

After the impact, the driver and two passengers, including Hawkins, fled the vehicle on foot in an attempt to evade officers, police said.

The other people in the car were reported to be juveniles.

A search of the Kia, according to police, revealed the steering column had been stripped and the ignition tampered, which are common ways for thieves to start up certain Kia models.

Inside the car, investigators recovered screwdrivers and picks, ski masks, and a clear bag of marijuana.

Court records said Hawkins was jailed on 10 percent of $10,000 bail. He was released after the bail was posted.
