State police said the anglers were sitting in a wooded area when Resnick approached them from a dirt path while pointing a black rifle.

Investigators said Resnick searched one of the victims’ backpacks with the barrel of the rifle, which was later identified as a pellet/BB air rifle, sometimes only inches from their faces.
