A water main break that left some residents in Langhorne Borough and Middletown Township under a boil water advisory was caused by a contractor.

The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority did not identify the contractor responsible for the damage, which required emergency repairs.
Fiber optic crews have been working in the area recently, but it is unclear if they were to blame for the water main damage.
The authority stated only that a contractor performing road work caused the break.

“We were informed that a contractor performing road work at the intersection struck a marked water main that serves customers in the borough and township,” the authority said in a statement. “We immediately deployed an emergency crew to repair the water main and issued a water boil advisory to impacted customers as a precautionary measure.”
The boil water advisory is limited to the following locations:
- North Pine Street: Between East Watson Avenue and Old Mill Drive.
- East Winchester Avenue: Between Valley View Road and Bellevue Avenue.
- East Watson Avenue: Between Belleview Avenue and North Pine Street.
- East Marshall Avenue, Penns Avenue, Elbow Alley, Cherry Street, Summit Avenue, Penncrest Drive, Greenridge Drive, Valley View Road, Brentwood Drive, and Long Avenue.

Residents outside the boundaries may experience discolored water, but they are not required to boil it for safety.
Repair work was completed in less than 24 hours, and Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority has begun mandatory bacteria testing to confirm the water’s safety.
Officials noted that certain populations — including infants, children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with compromised immune systems — have a greater risk of illness if the water is contaminated.

The authority expects to receive laboratory results early this week.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until those tests confirm the water is safe for use.
“We will notify customers once the boil water advisory is lifted,” the authority stated.
