Towns Declare Snow Emergencies Ahead Of Storm

Ahead of a snowstorm that could bring more than a foot of snow to the area, several local municipalities have begun declaring snow emergencies.

Bristol Township:

Bristol Township has declared a Snow Emergency due to a potential significant winter storm Sunday into Monday.

Forecasts show the potential for heavy snowfall and possible blizzard conditions. We are issuing this notice now so you have time to prepare.

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ๐Ÿš› Waste Management Hauling will be CLOSED Monday, February 23, 2026. Service will resume Tuesday, February 24, with collection of Monday routes. All remaining collections will shift one day later for the week.

This is critical. Please remove all cars, trucks, boats, and trailers from all township streets before the storm begins.

Parking on grass is allowed during the Snow Emergency.

Falls Township:

Falls Township has declared a Snow Emergency, starting Sunday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m., expiring on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6 a.m.

All vehicles, boats, trailers must be removed from all township streets. This assists our public works department in plowing and salting the streets, and provides clear access for all emergency services.

Hulmeville Borough:

Mayor Mahon has declared a snow emergency for Hulmeville Borough effective 8:00 am Sunday 2/22. The latest forecasts are predicting 12-18″ of snow for our area. We will continue the monitor the snowfall predictions and prepare accordingly.

Residents are reminded that ALL vehicles must be removed from every Borough street once the snow begins to fall. Failure to remove your vehicles will result is a citation and/or towing.

Also, residents are reminded that they are responsible for clearing the sidewalks in front of their homes within 12 hours of the snow stopping. After the last snowstorm, we had several residents that never cleared their sidewalks, and were given warnings. There will no warnings this time.

Everyone please be safe and do not go out unless it is absolutely necessary.

Middletown Township:

Middletown Township has declared a Snow Emergency effective Sunday, February 22 at 12:00 p.m. through Monday, February 23 at 12:00 p.m.

During the Snow Emergency, residents are reminded that vehicles must be removed from Township streets to allow snow plows and emergency vehicles to operate safely. Travel is strongly discouraged unless absolutely necessary.

The Middletown Township Public Works Department is actively implementing the Townshipโ€™s Snow Management Plan, with plowing prioritized as follows:

  • Primary roads and emergency routes
  • Secondary (collector and through) roads
  • Residential streets, cul-de-sacs, and dead ends

Crews will continue plowing and treating roadways as conditions allow. We appreciate residentsโ€™ patience as operations progress throughout the storm.

Sidewalk & Property Responsibilities

Property owners are reminded of the following winter maintenance requirements:

  • Sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours after the end of a snowstorm.
  • Basketball hoops and other items should be removed from the public right-of-way to prevent damage
  • Pushing snow into the street is prohibited by Township ordinance
  • Residents are encouraged to assist by clearing snow around nearby fire hydrants (3-foot clearance)

 Travel & Safety Tips

  • Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary
  • Watch for icy conditions, fallen trees, and downed power lines
  • If travel is unavoidable, keep emergency supplies in your vehicle and allow extra time
  • When shoveling snow, pace yourself and take frequent breaks to avoid overexertion. Dress warmly, stay hydrated, and listen to your body – especially during heavy or wet snow.
