Students at Snyder-Girotti Elementary School were dismissed Wednesday after officials received reports of a gas odor in parts of the building.

Bristol Borough firefighters and police responded mid-morning to the elementary school to investigate the odor.

Bristol Borough Chief of Police Joe Moors said the decision was made to dismiss students out of an abundance of caution.

Students were moved to the neighboring Grundy Arena and that location was used as a reunification center for family and students, Moors said.

No students or staff were reported to be hurt or unwell during the incident.

The Bristol Borough School District issued a notice to parents of the dismissal and said an inspection of the school’s systems will take place.

The incident comes weeks after an apparent natural gas leak caused a large explosion at the Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bristol Township.
