

A report that a student may have been in possession of a firearm on a school bus headed for the Pearl S. Buck School in Middletown Township prompted a lockdown Friday morning.

The incident began at approximately 8:30 a.m. when the Bucks County Intermediate Unit received a report concerning a student on the bus.
After learning of the potential threat, the building principal immediately contacted 9-1-1 and, under the direction of law enforcement, placed the school in lockdown, officials said.
Police intercepted the bus in the Fairless Hills Towne Center and conducted a search, officials said.

No weapon was found, officials said.
Despite the all-clear, law enforcement had an increased presence at the Pearl S. Buck School throughout the day “out of an abundance of caution,” the intermediate unit said.

Staff were available to provide support to students throughout the day.
Middletown Township police were investigating the incident.
