A Bristol Township resident was honored last Thursday by local police after his efforts led to a $3,001 donation for the township police department’s K-9 Unit.

Greyson Poorman was recognized by officers and their dogs at a council meeting and was presented with a plaque acknowledging his support to the police dog program.

Greyson and his grandfather, Russ, met Cpl. Josh Bausch and his K-9 partner Axel at Five Points following the Eagles’ NFC Championship game victory. The young supporter approached Bausch to express his love for dogs.

“Grayson and his family have a campground or have a camper up at a Sun Valley campground in Narvon, Pennsylvania,” Bausch explained to council members. “The campground has a fundraiser every year where they donate. They split the money that they earn. They donate to two different foundations or organizations.”

During the campground’s annual fundraiser meeting, Greyson stood before the group and requested that some of the proceeds be donated to the Bristol Township Police Department K-9 Unit.

The boy’s advocacy resulted in the $3,001 donation that was presented to the police department.

“The money you helped raise for us is the beginning of the future of our unit,” Bausch said. “We are very appreciative of that.”

Bausch also bestowed a special title on the young supporter.

“You are now the first and newest, well, the first ever honorary member of the Bristol Township Canine Unit,” Bausch told Greyson. “Thank you for all your support, dedication, and love to our unit.”
