The Falls Township Board of Supervisors approved the project last week by hiring Remington and Vernick Engineers to move forward with the Green Light Go state grant.

The state grant includes $259,800 for the improvements.

The main upgrade components include the addition of a left turn phase for eastbound drivers on Hood Boulevard turning into the high school driveway. The project will also add new signal equipment, including mast arms, signal heads, and detection systems, along with upgrades to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards for accessible design.

“This is much needed,” Supervisors Chairperson Jeff Dence said of the project.

Remington and Vernick Engineers will provide design, engineering, and inspection services.

The engineering firm is also tasked with advertising the project’s bidding process, answering construction questions, overseeing construction, and attending the signal activation to review the installation.

The firm’s cost of services is $55,500, which is eligible toward the township’s required 20 percent match for the traffic improvement upgrades.

The design and bidding process is expected to be finished within six months. Bid selection will follow, with construction estimated to take five months.

The project is scheduled for completion by fall 2026, officials said.
