The Bucks County SPCA reported that a cat named Mikey was found dead at about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, in the B section of the Pennwood Crossing mobile home community.

According to the SPCA, the cat’s body was still warm and bleeding when it was discovered.

Mikey, a neutered tuxedo cat, was taken to a veterinary clinic where X-rays showed a projectile in his body.

Officials said the cat was known to be friendly by those who manage a cat colony in the area.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathy to those who knew and loved Mikey,” the Bucks County SPCA said in a statement.

The organization is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people involved in the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the BCSPCA’s Report Cruelty Tipline at 844-772-2847, by email at reportcruelty@buckscountyspca.org, or online at BucksCountySPCA.org/report-cruelty/.

The Bucks County SPCA noted that animal cruelty is a crime and causing the death of a cat can be a felony.

In 2023, a Bucks County SPCA police investigation after the shooting of two cats led to a person receiving reward money and the shooter being convicted of a felony.
