
The Puerto Rican Cultural Association of Bucks County will host the Puerto Rican Day Festival in Bristol Borough on Saturday, July 26, at the waterfront park

The event will bring live music, dance performances, and traditional food to the borough from noon to 8 p.m.
“This event aims to support and acknowledge the diverse expressions within our cultural, artistic and gastronomic communities,” Luz Ruiz, the president of the Puerto Rican Cultural Association of Bucks County and Bristol Borough resident, said during a presentation before borough council.
The festival features three freestyle artists: Coro, Betty D of Sweet Sensation, and Abby Cruz of TKA.

Danza Fiesta, an internationally recognized New York-based folk dance company, will present a performance showcasing Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena musical traditions.
Jimmy Jorge and the Latin Express, a professional salsa band from Philadelphia, will perform music rooted in Cuban and Puerto Rican musical traditions.

Local dance groups Shaquina Dance Ministry and Ritmus Unidos will also showcase performances throughout the day.
DJ Juna Viles will provide a mix of Latino music styles to keep attendees engaged and dancing until sunset.
The festival includes various children’s activities, including face painting, hula hooping, and percussion instrument classes.

During the festivities at the waterfront park, children will learn about Puerto Rican percussion instruments that contribute to the distinctive sound of Puerto Rican music.
“The children will be invited to learn about the rich history of Puerto Rican percussion instruments rooted in Taíno, Spanish and African influences,” Ruiz said.

Food vendors will offer tropical cuisine featuring a combination of cultural influences and flavors.
Other vendors will sell unique products that attendees may not find elsewhere.

“We want to support these vendors. They really, really need our support,” Ruiz told council members.
The festival represents a celebration designed to gather families and share Puerto Rican traditions while strengthening community connections, and organizers said all are welcome to take part.

Last weekend, a flag-raising ceremony called “Izar la Bandera” took place outside Borough Hall.
The Puerto Rican Day Festival represents the culmination of the week-long celebration that began with the flag-raising ceremony.
“Everyone is welcome to celebrate, dance salsa until sunset, have fun and take lots of pictures,” Ruiz said. “Again, everyone is welcome to celebrate.”
