A preliminary investigation by the fire marshal’s office suggests that a firework, which was discharged nearby, entered through a front window of the house and ignited the blaze.
The homeowners, who were inside at the time, attempted to extinguish the fire but were forced to evacuate as the flames rapidly intensified, officials said.
