Two long-standing Rite Aid locations in Bucks County are slated for closure as the Philadelphia-based pharmacy chain navigates its bankruptcy proceedings, according to recent court filings.

The stores set close are located on Pond Street in Bristol Borough and in the 600 block of Lincoln Highway in Falls Township’s Fairless Hills section.
Rite Aid has not yet announced closing dates for these locations, which have been open for many years.
The closures are part of a broader wave nationwide as Rite Aid grapples with its financial challenges.

The company recently stated it has begun “pursuing a strategic and value-maximizing sale process for substantially all of its assets.”
Last month, Rite Aid announced the sale of its pharmacy assets to multiple companies, including CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Albertsons, and Kroger.

Customers should also note that Rite Aid stopped honoring its gift cards and accepting returns or exchanges after June 5.
Rite Aid originally filed for bankruptcy in 2023 and emerged less than a year later in 2024.
Stores in Bristol Borough and Falls Township closed during the 2023 bankruptcy.

Despite its prior restructuring, local stores have reportedly experienced bare shelves over the past two years.
A court document filed in New Jersey bankruptcy court showed that Rite Aid’s post-bankruptcy plan was contingent on vendors returning to less restrictive payment terms and assurances of credit from capital providers. The company claimed the money did not materialize.

The filing also cited macroeconomic pressures and reduced consumer spending as contributing factors to its current struggles.
As of earlier this year, Rite Aid operated more than 1,000 stores.
