The work on Hulmeville Avenue is part of a larger effort focusing on 30 state-owned roads in the Philadelphia region this week. Hulmeville Avenue is the only one in the Levittown area.
PennDOT cited the area’s frequent shifts between freezing and mild temperatures, which is known as a rapid freeze-thaw cycle, as a contributor to the high volume of potholes experienced each season.
“The Philadelphia region experiences a high volume of potholes each season due to temperatures fluctuating between freezing and mild, known as aย rapid freeze-thaw cycle,” PennDOT said in a statement.

Drivers are advised to reduce their speed when traveling through the work zone.
PennDOT also reminded drivers that potholes on state-owned roads can be reported through the agency’s Customer Care Center website.
Since the beginning of the year, PennDOT District 6 has received over 4,300 customer concerns regarding potholes.
