A 30-year-old Bensalem Township man faces charges after allegedly damaging a holding cell at the Bristol Township Police Headquarters last Sunday.

Police said the incident occurred at 6:38 p.m. while the man was in custody for a vandalism incident.
According to police, the man swung his boot at the window of the cell door, causing it to break.
The damage to the police headquarters is estimated to be more than $5,000, resulting in the holding cell being taken out of service.

Authorities stated that the man was “disorderly and violent” while in custody, preventing officers from processing him.
The man was later placed in shackles after allegedly attempting to escape, police said.

The man has been charged with institutional vandalism and disorderly conduct. Following his preliminary arraignment, he was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility. He has since been released after posting bail.
