State Police Conduct DUI Checkpoint In Lower Bucks County

Pennsylvania State Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint in Lower Bucks County over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday weekend, troopers said.

The checkpoint was held Saturday between 9 p.m. and Sunday at 4 a.m. on North Pine Street (Route 413) in Langhorne Borough, state police said.

Troopers made contact with 41 drivers during the stationary checkpoint.

No DUI arrests were made, according to a statement from state police.

The checkpoint was part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to promote road safety, troopers said.

“The goal of a sobriety checkpoint is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug-related fatal and serious crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania’s highways,” state police said in the statement.

According to PennDOT data, there were 59 crashes involving impaired drivers in the Philadelphia region during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday period last year. The crashes resulted in three fatalities.
