

Firefighters were on the scene of a brush fire that destroyed an outbuilding in Middletown Township’s Parkland section Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was centered in the hilly, wooded area and amid the underbrush off Ramble Road and largely contained to one property in the 1600 block.
Debris on the property and brush burned before flames damaged an outbuilding, according to Acting Middletown Township Fire Chief Don Harris.
Reports indicated at least one propane tank vented or exploded.

Harris said the fire was placed under control in about 30 minutes.

A backhoe from the Middletown Township Department of Public Works was brought in to assist firefighters.

The Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
The Bensalem Township Volunteer Fire Department, Fairless Hills Fire Company, Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Management, Parkland Fire Company, Penndel Fire Company, and William Penn Fire Company responded to fight the flames. The Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad responded and was on standby.
