The returned funds are part of Van Blunk’s ongoing efforts to reunite residents and organizations with their unclaimed money.
Currently, the county holds over $1.6 million in such funds, and the controller is actively working to return it to its rightful owners.
Van Blunk’s office contacted district CFO Chris Berdnik after discovering the funds. Berdnik promptly filed the necessary paperwork to allow for the return, according to a statement.

Since the inception of the Bucks County Unclaimed Funds program two years ago, Van Blunk has overseen the return of more than $720,000. These funds typically belong to individuals and organizations that have interacted with the county or its courts.
Van Blunk, a Republican, said her office is sending notification letters to those with older unclaimed funds exceeding $50.
Residents can easily check if they have unclaimed funds by visiting the Bucks County website: https://www.buckscounty.gov/1731/Bucks-County-Controllers-Unclaimed-Funds. The website features a searchable database of unclaimed funds and provides instructions on how to file a claim. Claimants can receive their money directly through the mail without any fees, typically within four to six weeks of verification. The site also links to state and national unclaimed funds resources.
