Bryant Burnett, 41, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime, and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to an incident last Tuesday at a recovery home on the 100 block of Kenwood Drive South in the Levittown section of Bristol Township.

According to police, officers arrived at the scene around 6:05 p.m. to find a man outside the home with a laceration to the calf of his left leg.

The man told officers that Burnett had swung a machete at him during an argument and struck him in the leg as he attempted to flee down the stairs, police said.

The altercation reportedly began over a disagreement concerning a potential urine test, police said.

Burnett, who was inside the home and visible through a window when officers arrived, surrendered without the machete in his possession, police said.

A resident of the home handed the machete over to officers. The machete was in the bedroom shared by Burnett and the injured man, police said.

During the arrest, officers found Burnett in possession of a glass smoking pipe, police said.

Burnett was preliminarily arraigned before on-call District Judge Kevin Wagner and held on 10 percent of $300,000 bail.
