A wolf-dog hybrid, which had been sighted roaming Bristol Borough for several days, was safely captured early Thanksgiving morning, according to authorities.

The capture was an effort involving Bristol Borough police, the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Howling Woods Farms, and GoodBoy Dog Recovery.
The team managed to secure the hybrid around 5:30 a.m. Thursday using a combination of raw meat, a soccer net, and a slip lead.
“We were able to safely catch ‘Bristol’ using raw meat, my soccer net, slip lead, and major strategy. He got a little spicy but we were able to contain without any incident,” GoodBoy Dog Recovery posted.

The wolf-dog hybrid was estimated to be 80 to 90 percent wolf, according to GoodBoy Dog Recovery.
The animal garnered significant attention on local Facebook groups as images of the animal and questions circulated.

Following its capture, the hybrid was transported to Howling Woods Farms in Jackson Township, New Jersey. The farm, in coordination with the game commission, is expected to find a permanent placement for the wolf-dog mix.
It was not immediately clear where the hybrid ended up in Bristol Borough.
Wolf-dog hybrids are created by crossing wolves with wolf-like dog breeds, such as Siberian Husky, German Shepherd, and Alaskan Malamute, according to the University of California Davis Campus’ Veterinary Genetics Laboratory. However, some hybrids occur naturally.

Many states, including Pennsylvania, regulate or ban the possession of these hybrids due to their unpredictable temperament. The animals require a special permit for ownership in the Keystone State.
