The fire happened in the 100 block of West Richardson Avenue before dawn last Saturday.

“Initial investigation reveals the fire appears to have originated at 146 West Richardson Avenue. This fire does not appear to be suspicious and there is no evidence to support this fire being politically motivated,” troopers said in a statement.

Four cats and one dog died in the blaze, authorities said.

While the fire and a smaller porch fire from mid-October remain under investigation, authorities have not ruled either arson, officials said.

Rumors online and spread widely on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, indicated the fires were connected to politics. Officials have said politics do not appear to have played a role.

One version of the rumor was that the mid-October fire involved a sign for former President Donald Trump’s campaign being burned.

Multiple sources with knowledge of the investigation said a Trump sign was not burned and the mid-October fire involved a small blaze on the porch in the area of American flag bunting.

Two fundraisers for the victims of the fire have raised roughly $70,000 for the families.

The money from the fundraisers will help cover medical bills, clothing, a new car, and replacement of some items needed for day-to-day life.
