Council President Says No Tax Increase Expected In Bristol’s 2025 Budget Plan

Bristol Borough Council is working on a proposed 2025 budget that would not raise taxes.

Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe said at last week’s meeting that the borough’s spending plan is still in the works, but that the budget doesn’t include a tax hike.

“We have a balanced budget right now with no tax increase. But I want everybody to have an opinion on it,” he said.

A budget work session is scheduled for Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. to allow council members and the public to go over the proposed budget.

Officials said the council will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m. to consider final adoption of the municipal budgets.

In other business, the council authorized engineering firm Gilmore and Associates to submit several grant applications on behalf of the borough:

  • A $1 million Statewide Local Share Assessment grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for the Bristol Borough boat dock expansion.
  • A $1 million Statewide Local Share Assessment grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for new consolidated fire station construction.
  • A $900,000 Local Share Account grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for decorative street light upgrades and borough-wide street light replacements.
  • A $210,000 Main Street Matters grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for decorative street light upgrades on Mill Street.

Mayor Ralph DiGuiseppe II thanked borough crews for recent cleanup efforts on the old Route 13 bridge, which is now entering a repainting phase.
