Principal Stephen Garstka addressed the incident in a letter to students, parents, and guardians that stated the toy gun was found in a toilet at the conclusion of an evacuation drill, a regular safety procedure at the school in Middletown Township.
“Our school resource officer was immediately notified and has verified that the item is NOT a real firearm. All students and staff are safe and accounted for and the high school administrative team is working to identify where the object came from,” Garstka wrote.
Photos of the toy gun circulated among students and parents had raised concerns.
