The Bristol Township Police Department announced a new push to address vehicles obstructing sidewalks.

Officials are urging residents to keep sidewalks clear for safe passage for pedestrians, especially as the community takes advantage of the cooler fall weather.
“Please be courteous to your fellow neighbors as they try to enjoy the fall weather. This issue creates a hazard for all pedestrians that need to enter the street to go around a vehicle blocking a sidewalk,” police said.
The enforcement will use a state law, which prohibits stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle on sidewalks, except under specific circumstances such as avoiding traffic conflicts or following police instructions.

Violations of this law constitute a summary offense and can result in a fine of up to $50, police said.
