Two Bristol Township police officers received commendations for heroic actions.

Officer Kyle McKenna, a four-year veteran of the department, was honored for rescuing a driver from a burning vehicle, while Officer Edmund O’Brien, a 23-year veteran, was recognized for his work on a major firearms investigation.
Chief of Police Robert Coulton presented the awards and praised the officers for their dedication and bravery.
McKenna was dispatched to the Levittown Trace Apartments on Ford Road on Saturday, August 10, at 2:10 p.m. for a crash with fire. Multiple 9-1-1 callers said the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

“Officer McKenna did not hesitate and immediately ran towards the burning vehicle,” Coulton said. “He was able to remove the driver despite heavy fire and smoke and carry him to safety.”
The driver, who had suffered a diabetic emergency, sustained no life-threatening injuries due to McKenna’s actions. Coulton said.

O’Brien was recognized for his work on a narcotics and illegal firearms investigation that began in March 2022.
“His extensive investigation involved seven suspects being arrested and convicted with sentences and guilty pleas for up to 20 years for corrupt organisation and firearms violations,” said Coulton.
The investigation led to federal charges and was described as “one of the biggest gun jobs ever in Bucks County,” Coulton said.

Lt. Sean Cosgrove said O’Brien doesn’t like attention, but he is one of the township’s hardest working lawmen.
Coulton emphasized the importance of the the officers’ actions.

“This is just an example of the things that officers do on a daily basis,” the chief said.
Council President Craig Bowen praised the officers, calling their actions “awesome” and thanking them.
