The township will receive $259,800 for modernization of traffic signal equipment at Hood Boulevard and Pennsbury High School, according to announcements from PennDOT and Gov. Josh Shapiro’s office.

The funding is part of the Green Light-Go program, which allocated more than $30 million statewide for traffic signal upgrades aimed at increasing safety and improving mobility.

Falls Township was among 73 municipalities across Pennsylvania to receive funding through the program, according to PennDOT.

Several other municipalities in Bucks County were also awarded grants, but Falls Township was the only recipient in the Levittown area.

“Many Green Light-Go grants help municipalities improve congestion and traffic flow by upgrading to newer technologies in detection โ€“ which in turn allow traffic signals to respond to real-time traffic demand,” according to a PennDOT statement.

โ€œTheย safety improvements supported by theย Green Light-Goย program will help municipalities relieve congestion and traffic flow and keep Pennsylvanians moving safely and efficiently,โ€ saidย PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll.

Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursements to towns for updates that improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals.
