According to troopers, Lutz and Lomas climbed over a fence at the facility to escape.
The Abraxas Academy is located approximately 55 miles from Bristol Township, a car trip of about 70 minutes via the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
With Lomas being a local resident, troopers and local police believed the two escapees might be in the Levittown area.

The Abraxas Academy, where the escape took place, is known for its programs catering to “delinquent” teen boys aged 14 to 18 who have exhibited “consistent delinquent patterns through multiple placements, serious charges, and problematic behaviors,” according to its website.
The latest escape marks at least the second such incident within a year at the Abraxas Academy. In 2023, nine teenagers escaped after overpowering two guards, and they were all apprehended within a day.
