The long-awaited renovation of the track at Bristol Borough Senior High School is poised to move forward as local officials prepare to reapply for essential grant funding, officials announced.

Previously, a $400,000 grant application to refurbish the aging facility was denied because the borough did not own the track, officials said at Monday’s Bristol Borough Council meeting.
The Bristol Borough School Board recently transferred ownership to the borough, clearing the way for a new grant application from the borough.
Borough Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe pointed to the importance of the project, calling it a “top priority” for the community.

“They’ve now turned the track over to the borough. Since we own the track, our grant application went back in. We feel very strongly we can get this money,” he said.
The collaboration between the school board and the borough has been pivotal, DiGuiseppe said.

With ownership issues resolved, Bristol Borough is now set to reapply for the $400,000 grant, with hopes high that this time, the funding will be secured to revamp the track, enhancing athletic facilities for students and residents.
