Local families can soon enjoy cooler visits to the Municipal Park as Bristol Township has announced the addition of new sun shades at the playground and spray park areas.

The installation process began this week at the park on Bath Road.
“We heard our residents, and have installed sun shades at the spray park!” the township said.
The move comes as an answer to requests from park-goers seeking relief from the sun at one of the community’s most frequented outdoor spaces.

An aerial concept drawing provided by the township shows the expected coverage and structure of the sun shades, which have been designed following community feedback.
Due to the use of heavy equipment and the necessity for large footings, the spray park was closed starting Thursday and will remain inaccessible through Saturday. It is scheduled to reopen on Sunday at 10 a.m.

The adjacent playground area will also see closures from Friday through Tuesday to accommodate the ongoing work.
The township has already installed smaller sun shades in the park, which opened in 2019. The addition of the spray park shortly after the parks opening has drawn crowds, making it a favorite spot during warm weather months.
