Police responded to the at Lakeview Terrace Apartments on South Olds Boulevard at 7:37 p.m. on Monday, May 20, for a well-being check.

An officer arrived and spoke with a resident who reported that an unknown woman entered her apartment, took a pair of red Crocs, and left the front door open, police said.

A neighbor provided security footage showing the woman, who is known to law enforcement for prior trespassing incidents, police said.

The resident of the apartment stated that she saw her front door open, went downstairs, and found the woman a short distance from the apartment. The resident retrieved her shoes from the woman, police said.

The woman who took the shoes claimed she had left money at the apartment for the Crocs, police said.

The woman who allegedly took the shoes then left the area on foot, pushing a shopping cart, police said.

The resident confirmed that the woman had never been invited into the apartment, did not know the residents, and had no permission to take the items. The suspect had no prior access to the apartment, police said.

Police later located the woman and arrested her on charges of burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property. She was preliminarily arraigned by on-call District Judge Maggie Snow and held on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
