A crash involving a gas-powered bicycle and an SUV at a busy area intersection sent one man to the hospital Thursday.

The crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Bristol-Oxford Valley Road and Oxford Valley Road in Falls Township, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 36-year-old Levittown man was heading west on Oxford Valley Road on the bicycle with motor when he failed to stop at a stop sign. The cyclist made a sharp right turn to head north onto Bristol-Oxford Valley Road and was struck head-on by a green Nissan Xterra, police said.
The bicycle’s operator was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the Nissan, a 20-year-old Levittown woman, did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
The crash caused traffic on Lincoln Highway, Oxford Valley Road, Bristol-Oxford Valley Road, and North Oxford Valley Road to back up in the area during the evening rush hour. Falls Township and Middletown Township police directed drivers around the scene.
