Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County marked a significant milestone last week with the dedication of its 129th home, the first completed at the former site of the former St. Thomas Aquinas School.

The celebration marked a new beginning for Tyler, Angelica, and their kids, who received the keys to their dream home on Walnut Avenue in the Croydon section of Bristol Township, after months of construction.
Florence Kawoczka, the executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County, said the impact of home ownership on families and communities is important.
“Home ownership, for even one family, has a positive ripple effect,” she stated.

Kawoczka acknowledged and thanked the contributions of donors who played a role in putting the home up.
Tyler expressed gratitude to everyone involved and highlighted the importance of owning a home.

“Thank you for letting us own a home in Bucks County, where we have lived for almost 30 years,” he said. “I can’t thank everyone enough.”
The project received support from the Bucks County Department of Housing and Community Development, with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), and a number of companies and organizations. The home’s construction was supported by donations from several sponsors, including Parx Casino, Blue Rock Construction, DeLuca Homes, M&T Bank, PECO-Exelon, Pulte Homes, Wells Fargo, and Woodside Church.
Father David Fernandes, of the nearby St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, helped bless the house before the family moved in.

The Walnut Street home is part of Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County’s new land trust model, which was created to offer affordability for current buyers but also make sure long-term affordability for the future.
The nonprofit has been working to rehabilitate and build homes across the county and has undertaken a number projects in Bristol Township.

The Walnut Avenue home is one of three being constructed at the former St. Thomas Aquinas School site.
