

A New Jersey woman was killed and several people were hurt in a violent crash Sunday on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lower Bucks County.

Around 6:25 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police, firefighters, and ambulance crews were called to the Turnpike headed eastbound in Lower Southampton Township for a reported crash.
Crews arrived to find a single-vehicle crash involving a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan. The vehicle was badly damaged.
Four people – two adults and two children in safety seats – were in the SUV at the time of the crash.

Molly W. Dowd, 43, of West Orange, New Jersey, was in the passenger seat and rushed to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township. She died due to her injuries on Monday, troopers said.
A 43-year-old Brooklyn, New York City, man, a 5-year-old boy, and 3-year-old girl were hurt. The extent of their injuries were not reported. They were transported to St. Mary Medical Center by the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad, according to state police.

Troopers said the Tiguan was traveling on the Turnpike when a deer crossed the westbound lanes, jumped the center concrete barrier, and onto the hood of the SUV. The deer crashed through the front windshield, causing the injuries that led to Dowd’s death.
The Tiguan suffered extensive damage to its hood, windshield, and roof. It was towed from the scene, state police said.
