The charm and whimsical adventure of the beloved 1988 film “Big” have been reimagined on the stage at the Bristol Riverside Theatre.

“Big: The Musical,” which has garnered five Tony Award nominations, is captivating audiences with its heartwarming story and catchy tunes at the Bristol Borough theater.
The musical hits the stage from the book by John Weidman, music by David Shire, and lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr.
The show tells the story of Josh, a young boy who finds himself in an adult’s body overnight, exploring themes of childhood, dreams, and the essence of being true to oneself. Charles Osborne, known for Food Network’s hit show “The Worst Cooks in America” and a number of off-Broadway productions, stars as adult Josh and Remi Tuckman stars as young Josh.

The musical edition of the movie, made famous by Tom Hanks, debuted on Broadway in April 1996.
“The Tom Hanks film was such a huge part of my childhood in the ‘80s,” said Kaissar. “I’m excited for new audiences to discover the heart at the center of this beautiful story. And we’re delighted to have Charles Osborne back after his brilliant performance in Irma Vep earlier this season. Charles brings an unfettered comedic brilliance to the table and is sure to lead an energy-packed production.”

Adding to the excitement is Chloe Major, an eighth-grade student from Ben Franklin Middle School in Bristol Township, who is making her professional debut in the production.
Major plays Cynthia Benson, the youthful object of Josh’s affection and an executive in his adult life.
“Being on stage is a rush,” Major said recently in a Bristol Township School District newsletter. “It’s exhilarating. There’s so many emotions – nervous, excited, focused. It’s amazing being on stage, seeing the audience and having the lights shining on you.”

The Bristol Riverside Theatre’s “Big: The Musical” performances started last month and will continue to entertain through mid-April.
Despite the challenges of balancing schoolwork and rehearsals, she remains committed to pursuing her passion for acting and is aiming for a future on Broadway. She is attending Franklin virtually but still participating in school activities.
