The incident occurred at 4:04 p.m. on Friday, March 8, on I-295 westbound in Middletown Township, Pennsylvania State Police reported this week.
A 2008 Volvo tractor-trailer had pulled over after experiencing a blowout. A 2002 Honda van with a repair worker responded to assist this disabled trucker.
According to troopers, as the repair worker and the truck driver were in the process of changing the tire, a 2000 Dodge Neo driven by a 44-year-old Freehold, New Jersey, man crossed the fog line, striking the tire the repair worker was holding, troopers said.

The impact caused the repair worker to be run over by the truck tire and thrown into a ditch alongside the highway, troopers said.
The rolling tire then collided with the repair van before careening into the path of a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, resulting in additional damage, troopers said.

The 37-year-old Philadelphia repairman was taken by the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital in the city for treatment. The extent of his injuries was undisclosed, troopers said.
Troopers announced their intent to cite the Dodge driver for failing to adhere to the proper precautions around a disabled vehicle.
