A Bristol Township police officer was commended for her efforts to deliver a baby while on duty.

On August 26, 2023 around 6:10 p.m. while monitoring traffic outside of the Sunoco on State Road in the Croydon section, Officer Nicole Davis was approached by a man advising her that his girlfriend was pregnant and going into labor, police Chief Robert Coulton said at last week’s council meeting.
Davis put on gloves and rushed over the vehicle. She found the man’s girlfriend giving birth in the front seat of his vehicle.
The officer helped deliver the baby and wrapped it in a blanket.

The baby was transported by ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township and later released.
“It is uncommon but it does happen in policing,” Coulton said of officers delivering a baby.

Bristol Township Council and the police department awarded Davis a commendation of merit for her actions on that day.
